Enjoy a day tour outside of Luxor and visit the 2 most preserved temples Abydos temple built by Seti I  & Dendra Temple one of the best-preserved sanctuaries all over Egypt. It was once home to the celebrated Dendera zodiac.

Itinerary:

Our Licensed tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you in A/C van for 135 KM to reach Abydos, one of the most ancient cities of Egypt and considered as one of the most valuable archaeological sites. Discover the Temple of Seti I with its well preserved, partly even still colored reliefs, and have a look at the famous Abydos King List, a list of the ancient kings reigning before Seti himself – starting with Menes, a nebulous pharaoh with rare mentions who is considered to have been the first Pharaoh of a united Egypt, and ending with Ramesses I, Seti’s father. Except for some pharaohs that should be banished from people’s memory, it is considered to be a complete enumeration, and therefore a precious clue for the Egyptologists.

Now visit the Osireion, a cenotaph built to honor the god Osiris which, according to the myth, contained his head. Not far from Seti I’s temple you can see a temple built by his son Ramesses II, not as well preserved, but anyway interesting, as it shows the battles of this pharaoh, maybe the greatest and most powerful man all over the history of the Egyptian Empire, in detailed reliefs.`

After this visit we will have lunch before Carry on driving again to reach to the second of today’s destinations: Dendera. Its impressive Ptolemaic temple, dedicated to the goddess Hathor, is one of the best-preserved sanctuaries all over Egypt. It was once home to the celebrated Dendera zodiac, which is now displayed in the Louvre Museum in Paris.

In the evening you will be transfer back to your hotel.
